Bursaries for virtual attendees from Low- and lower-middle-income countries (LMIC)
Attendees from LMIC countries can apply for a bursary to cover the costs of the registration fee for virtual attendance only (live virtual attendance on 26 September and access to all three days content on demand). LMIC attendees must submit their bursary application to FISConference@wearemci.com by 1 August 2022.
- A CV
- A statement summarizing their job role and length of time working in the field of infection prevention and control/microbiology/infectious diseases
- A letter from their employer on headed paper supporting their application
- The application must be sent from an institutional email address (email addresses such as gmail or hotmail are not acceptable)
All applicants will be informed of the outcome of their application by 15 August 2022 (23:59 BST) and will then be provided with a special code to allow FREE LMIC registration.
Travel grants for FIS hosting and FIS participating society members

Healthcare Infection Society member travel grants
HIS will offer travel grants of up to £1,000 to support the attendance of members who are presenting their work at FIS/HIS International 2022.
Applicants should apply for a FIS/HIS International travel grant as soon they have confirmation that their abstract has been accepted. The deadline for receipt of travel grant applications is 1 August 2022 23:59 BST.
All applicants will be informed of the outcome of their application by 15 August 2022 (23:59 BST)
Funding may be used to cover the registration fee, travel, accommodation and/or childcare costs.
Only members of HIS can apply. Eligibility commences immediately upon joining the Society and non-members can join the Society online.
Travel grants will preferentially be awarded to students, trainees, pharmacists and nurses and are allocated according to pre-determined criteria which include;
- if the applicant has had an abstract accepted for an oral or poster presentation at the conference (applicants must provide proof of abstract acceptance)
- the potential benefit to the applicant from attending the conference
- if the applicant has difficulty obtaining funding to attend FIS/HIS International 2022 or has difficulty covering the costs of childcare

Society Conference Grants will be available to support eligible Microbiology Society members wishing to attend FIS/HIS 2022.
Applications will open for a two-week period from 19 July 2022. Further information is available on the Society Conference Grant page.

Microbiology Society members who are ineligible for the Society Conference Grant may wish to apply to the Travel Grant scheme for support. Applications for events taking place between 1 July –30 September 2022 will open at the end of April and close on 1 June 2022.

Registering to attend FIS/HIS International 2022
You should await the outcome of your travel grant or bursary application before registering for the conference. The earlybird registration deadline is 1 September 23:59 BST 2022.
For travel grant recipients, you must register to attend the conference yourself and claim back the registration fee from the Society which has awarded your grant.
Those who are attending from a LMIC using a bursary as outlined above above will be provided with a code to enable them to register. Only approved bursary applicants will be able to attend with the FREE LMIC registration.
